Version 0.9.9.9 Bugfix/Balance Update (And story mode progress))


Hey y'all!!! Decided to release a build because I made some significant changes to the game + there's a few nasty bugs I fixed.

I'd also like to update y'all on the status of story mode, I am still working hard on it. The code for a visual novel style dialogue system is complete, as well as character sprites, all I have left to do is finish writing the script (which is currently sitting around 44,000 words), draw backgrounds, and code everything into the game. I can't estimate exactly when, but my goal is to complete it sometime in the next few months, I am "in the final stretch" as people say.  I hope y'all will enjoy it when its finally complete! It's been really fun writing!

Anyway, here are the full patch notes!!! :3

0.9.9.9 patch notes

[New Features!]

-1 new assist only character!

-Lots of balance changes, including new attacks and abilities for some characters (continue reading for specifics)

-Save files for version 0.99 and onwards will no longer interfere with save files in game versions before 0.99, and vice versa. After launching version 0.99 for the first time, your previous save data will be converted to the new save format, and any future versions of the game will read that data instead.

[Bug Fixes]

-Fixed a bug that caused the rebind for the select button to not be saved between game sessions.

-Fixed a bug that caused the shadows/reflections for projectiles to be displaced compared to the player shadows/reflections

-fixed a bug that allowed for cancelling the grounded portion of backdash into an attack.

-fixed a bug that caused speed ex dash not resetting attacks used properly.

-fixed a bug that caused the analog sticks on controllers to not work during stage select.


[Balance Changes]


{Robin}

-Increased guardstun on Robin's 5A.

-Robin's 214A now pulls the opponent closer instead of knocking them back.

-Slightly increased Damage on Robin's 214C.


{Mai}

-Increased damage on Mai's j.214x.

-Slightly decreased horizontal knockback on Mai's j.A and j.B.


{Setsuna}

-Gave Setsuna a new command normal, 6B.

-Slightly decreased horizontal knockback on her j.A and j.B.

-Increased hitstun and guardstun on Setsuna's 236C and hitstun on 236A/B.

-Increased the hitbox size of her j.2C.


{V}

-V's 22x is now immune to placing him into stun state when it is parried by a power mode opponent.

-V can now use his 236x followups without having to hit the opponent.

-Adjusted V's 236x hitbox to account for skinnier characters.


{Clay}

-Clay's enhanced 236x is now immune to placing him into stun state when it is parried by a power mode opponent.


{Crow}

-Crow now has a "shock state" mechanic, that is applied from his 22C,214x, and 236D. It is detonated with  236A/B, and 22A/B, and it increases hitstun and guardstun, allowing for combos that would otherwise be impossible. I've also nerfed some of his attacks in a way so that players are more incentivized to apply shock state first.

-Crow's 2C now vaccumms on hit.

-Crow's 214A now causes a wallstick.

-Decreased the vertical knockback of crow's 22A/B.

-Slightly increased the vertical movement speed of Crow's 22A/B.

-Decreased hitstun on Crow's 236A/B.

-Decreased knockback on the third hit of Crow's 236C.

-Crow can no longer jump cancel his j.236x.

-Increased hitstun on Crow's 5A.

-Changed Crow's S4, S5, P2, and P4 Combo Trials.


{Mona}

-Mona has a new command normal, 6C.


{Hawke + Apollo}

-Hawke can no longer jump cancel 22x > B.

-Increased Guardstun on Hawke's 22x > B > 2B.

-Hawke's j.C now causes a ground bounce.


{Rain}

-Increased hitstun on Rain's 214A, 5A, and 2A.

-Rain's 6B, 4C, and 6C no longer put Rain in the stunned state when parried by a power, or EX mode opponent.

-Rain's 6B now has Armor.

-Increased horizontal Movement on Rain's 6B.

-Increased Hitstop on Rain's 6B.

-Increased Damage on Rain's 6B.

-Changed Rain's S5 combo trial.


{Basil}

-Increased horizontal speed on all versions of Basil's [4]6x.

-Basil's [4]6A no longer knocks down on hit.

-Basil's 236A/B now cause a wallsplat on hit.

-Decreased damage on Basil's 236A/B

-Increased damage on Basil's 236C.

-Basil's 236x command grab now resets the single wallsplat per combo on hit.


{Leaf}

-Decreased guardstun on Leaf's 2A.


{Unit-01}

-Decreased the hitbox size of Unit-01's 22x.

-Decreased Guardstun on Unit-01's 214A, 214B, 214C, 2C, and 2B.


{Unit-01+ (Arcade Boss)}

-Decreased the hitbox size of Unit-01+'s 22x.

-Removed the armor on Unit-01+'s 214A/B,

-Reduced the amount of armor on Unit-01+'s 214C. 

-Increased guardstun on Unit-01+'s 214C.

-Decreased Damage on all versions of Unit-01+'s [4]6x.

-The direction of Unit-01's 4[6]x can now be controlled by inputting left or right during it's startup.

-Decreased startup on Unit-01+'s [4]6A.

-Increased startup on Unit-01+'s [4]6B.

-Increased the movement speed of Unit-01's [4]6C.

-Decreased Horizontal knockback on Unit-01's [4]6x.

-Unit-01+'s [4]6B/C now causes a groundbounce.


[Secret Character]

-[Redacted]'s 236D super now restands on all hits except the last.

-Changed the trajectory of her 214B coin projectile.

-[Redacted] can now go into 236x's followups without hitting the other player.

-Decreased horizontal knockback on all versions of [Redacted]'s 236x.

-Increased vertical knockback on [Redacted]'s 236C.

-[Redacted]'s 236A no longer causes a knockdown on hit.

-[Redacted] can now go into 236x by pressing a button during 412x.

-Increased hitstun and guardstun on [Redacted]'s j.2C.

-[Redacted]'s j.2C now causes a groundbounce.

-[Redacted]'s 412C now crosses up even if the other player is in the corner.


<Secret Character>

-Increased The hitbox size of <Redacted>'s j.B.

-<Redacted> can now use 22x in the air.


{System}

-Made "Superjumps/Shorthops/Homing Jumps" easier to input, and also buffer.

-Team mode can now homing jump in the air as well.

-When non-projectile assists hit the other player in team mode, they heal some of your non-active character's health.

-Command grabs will no longer hit an opponent that is in guardstun. (normal throws still will though)

-You can no longer armor through a burst/overdrive activation.

-Slightly decreased the effect of damage scaling in team and power modes.

-The first attack in power mode combos now does more damage than normal.

-Increased the minimum amount of damage ex and super attacks can do in speed mode.

-You can no longer dash cancel, or ex dash during the last 4 frames of an attack.

-Activating Overdrive will now allow Power mode characters to doublejump if they have one.

-Assist recharge will no longer pause during hitstop/superfreeze.

-The name of your controller in the options menu will flash yellow if it reads a directional input

-Increased the max health of every character by 10.
