Heatwave December Devlog


Hello! I know I've been pretty quiet recently, but I'm still hard at work on Heatwave's story mode and the 1.0 update. I had originally wanted to release it this year, but, as usual, things take longer to do than I originally planned :P 

So, what have I completed? 

  • I have finished fully implementing the text, actor movement/expressions, and background art for 15/38 of the story mode chapters, and have rewritten parts of the story to be better.
  • I redrew character select portraits for every character, as the old/current ones were/are... not my best work. 
  • At the start of November I unveiled one of the secret characters that will be available in the 1.0 update, Athena.  
  • I I finished implementing all the animations for a third secret character to be added in 1.0. 
  • I refactored how every single hitbox in the game is stored (which involved going through and rewriting code in EVERY attack in the game)
  • I refactored how special effects are drawn to give myself more control, as well as making it easier to add new ones

I'm really excited to be nearing the end of Heatwave's development, I hope it won't take too much longer :)
